An Evening with Bill Roorbach and Joyce Maynard

It is a privilege to host these two prolific authors here at York Public Library in partnership with The Booktenders of York, Maine.

Joyce Maynard will discuss her latest book, How the Light Gets In, the eagerly anticipated follow-up to her beloved novel Count the Ways — a complex story of three generations of a family and its remarkably resilient, and indomitable matriarch Eleanor.

Bill Roorbach will talk about his new book, Beep, an ebullient, funny, and hugely original novel told from the perspective of Beep, a squirrel monkey who — with the help of a brilliant young girl — forges the way forward for a planet in crisis.

About Joyce Maynard: Maynard is the author of twelve previous novels and five nonfiction books, as well as the syndicated column, "Domestic Affairs." Her bestselling memoir, At Home in the World, has been translated into sixteen languages. Her novels To Die For and Labor Day were both adapted for film. Maynard divides her time between homes in California, New Hampshire, and Lake Atitlan in Guatemala.

About Bill Roorbach: Roorbach is the author of ten books, including the Montana Award-winning Lucky Turtle, The Girl of the Lake, the Kirkus Prize finalist The Remedy for Love, the bestselling Life Among Giants, and the Flannery O’Connor Award–winning collection Big Bend.
