Program Description

Event Details

Gardens are their own small ecosystems, and the degree to which they bolster the resilience of their larger local ecosystem depends on how we plant and manage them. Our plant choices can determine which species can seek refuge in our gardens, how much species diversity we see in residential areas and help minimize impacts of climate change such as flooding and drought. Join YPL and the Wild Seed Project to learn how to create a beautiful and ecologically resilient haven in your own back yard that benefits you, local wildlife and your community!

The mission of Wild Seed Project is to inspire people to take action and join us in increasing the presence of native plants grown from wild seed. Our vision is that people create and repopulate landscapes to be abundant with native plants that safeguard wildlife habitat, support biodiversity, and mitigate the effects of climate change.

This event is part of York Public Library’s 2024 climate programming series, “Living in a Climate Changed World.” For more information, please visit yorkpubliclibrary.org/climate.
