Salt marshes are some of the most biologically rich features on the planet, offering nesting grounds for hundreds of migratory birds and habitat for a variety of plant and animal species. They also play an important role in our planet's climate system, by sponging up rising sea levels and absorbing greenhouse gases. Join York Land Trust for a discussion about the ways that marshes along the York River and elsewhere can help protect against the effects of climate change on the local and global level, and what the land trust is doing to help support these important environmental features.
The York Land Trust is a nonprofit organization led by a dedicated group of community members working to conserve and protect York’s natural resources and cultural heritage.
