This program is brought to you as part of the 2022 Camden Conference.

In this talk, Dr Hancock will examine several key climate themes in contemporary Europe. She will look at the negotiations underpinning some of the big climate agreements and dissect areas of discord as the world aims to keep its emissions in line with the 2015 Paris Agreement.

Maine native Dr. Susana Hancock (PhD, Oxford University) is a multidisciplinary Arctic climate researcher and has lived throughout the European Arctic. Susana has served as an expert reviewer for the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, co-chaired a team with the UN’s Decade of Ocean Science, is Vice President for the international Association for Polar Early Career Scientists and now heads up a new international team addressing the socio-geopolitical impacts of the climate crisis in the polar regions. Locally, she is on the Executive Committee for Democracy Maine and Citizens’ Climate Lobby, is part of Maine Youth for Climate Justice, the RSU5 Board, her town's Sustainability Advisory Board, on several Camden Conference committees and has just started a new environmental non-profit.
